About this call

Documentation Matters: A Call for Research and Community Collaborations As an author, researcher, and educator, I am interested in building collaborative relationships with researchers, attorneys, advocates, nonprofit organizations, reentry programs, libraries, educational institutions, and community leaders who share an interest in records preservation, transparency, and access to information. My work focuses on: Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) research and document preparation. Exhibit and timeline development. Records organization and preservation. Public records requests, including body camera footage and administrative records. Documentation and risk management. Educational outreach and public speaking. Through my own litigation experience, research, and work assisting others, I have successfully helped individuals obtain records, organize exhibits, and prepare documentation that contributed to favorable outcomes, including the recovery of records and reimbursement of court costs. I am particularly interested in collaborating with organizations and researchers serving: Formerly incarcerated individuals and reentry populations. Individuals facing barriers to obtaining records and information. Community advocacy groups. Libraries and educational institutions. Researchers studying transparency, access to justice, and records preservation. Nonprofit and public-interest organizations. Potential areas of collaboration include: Research projects and publications. Educational workshops and community presentations. Public speaking engagements. Records preservation initiatives. Documentation and risk management programs. Training related to FOIA and FOIL procedures. Access-to-justice and reentry initiatives. I believe that documentation matters, records matter, and access to information matters. If your organization, research group, or community initiative shares these interests, I welcome opportunities for collaboration, education, and the exchange of ideas.
