Purpose: This study examines how open innovation can accelerate the adoption of circular economy (CE) principles by enhancing knowledge flows, co-creation, and stakeholder collaboration. It explores how these mechanisms help overcome technological and organizational barriers in transitioning from linear to circular systems. Methodology: The systematic literature review was carried out by utilizing the Scopus and Web of Science databases.From an initial pool of 686 studies, 22 relevant articles were analyzed through bibliometric and content analysis to assess the role of open innovation in CE adoption across micro, meso, and macro levels. Findings: The review highlights that research at the intersection of open innovation and CE remains in an early stage. Co-creation and stakeholder collaboration dominate as key enablers, particularly at the micro level. Open innovation processes—both inbound and outbound—support knowledge exchange, risk reduction, and circular business models, though challenges such as stakeholder coordination and intellectual property concerns persist. Implications/Originality/Value: The study contributes to emerging scholarship by clarifying how open innovation fosters CE adoption. It offers practical insights for managers and policymakers on leveraging co-creation and collaboration to advance sustainable business models and identifies research gaps in theory-driven and empirical applications.

Purpose- The major objective of this research is to explore how digital transformation affects sustainable supply chain performance in Pakistan’s manufacturing sector. Specifically, it examines the impact of digital collaboration, intelligence optimization, agility, and responsiveness, as well as end-to-end transparency across the entire supply chain for sustainability. Study Design/Methodology/Approach - A quantitative research design combined with a deductive method was employed. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 125 respondents in Pakistan's manufacturing sector between May 2, 2024, and May 20, 2024. The survey utilized a five-point Likert scale, and statistical techniques such as regression analysis and Pearson’s correlation coefficient were used to analyze the collected data. Findings- The study found a strong relationship between digital transformation and sustainable supply chain performance. Key factors included digital collaboration, which improved communication and cooperation, and AI/ML-driven optimization, which enhanced demand planning, inventory control, and process efficiency. End-to-end transparency fostered trust and accountability across the supply chain. While agility positively influenced sustainable performance, other factors were not statistically significant, indicating potential additional influences. Practical Implications- The findings suggest that manufacturing practitioners should adopt digital tools to improve their supply chain operations. Policymakers are encouraged to implement supportive policies and legislation to promote digitalization. The results imply that digital collaboration, intelligent optimization, and full transparency can significantly enhance sustainable supply chain performance, thereby contributing to social welfare, environmental sustainability, and economic growth. Originality/Novelty - This study is original in its focus on the relationship between digital transformation and sustainable supply chain performance within the context of Pakistan’s manufacturing sector. It highlights the importance of digital collaboration, AI-driven optimization, and transparency in achieving sustainability goals, offering new insights into the drivers of sustainable supply chain practices.
