About

Masha Shapiro, LMHC is a trauma-focused clinician and PhD candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy whose work centers on the intersection of intergenerational trauma and postpartum mental health. Her research examines how early relational dynamics, attachment patterns, and culturally embedded family systems shape maternal identity, emotional regulation, and the manifestation of anxiety during the postpartum period. As the founder of We Rise Mental Health Counseling Services, she integrates empirically informed approaches, including EMDR and trauma-focused interventions, into clinical practice. Her work is particularly concerned with translating complex psychological constructs into clinically actionable frameworks that inform both treatment and prevention. She is interested in qualitative and mixed-methods research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and publication focused on maternal mental health, trauma, and family systems.
