I am a Medical Technologist and public health researcher based in Guyana, with experience in hematology, clinical biochemistry, immunology, molecular diagnostics, and laboratory operations. I hold a BSc in Medical Technology and a Master of Public Health, with postgraduate training in Occupational Medicine and Health Informatics/Digital Health.

My research interests include public health, laboratory medicine, infectious disease surveillance, epidemiology, health informatics, and systematic reviews/meta-analysis. I have contributed to research on HPV awareness, arboviral and dengue surveillance, and blood group phenotyping, with work published and presented through the West Indian Medical Journal and CARPHA.

I am interested in collaborating on multidisciplinary and international research projects, particularly where I can contribute laboratory expertise, data analysis, research methodology, scientific writing, and public-health knowledge.

I’m a Medical Technologist and public health professional from Guyana with a background in laboratory medicine, public health research, and healthcare. I hold a BSc in Medical Technology and a Master of Public Health, with additional postgraduate training in Occupational Medicine and Health Informatics/Digital Health. My research interests include public health, epidemiology, laboratory medicine, infectious disease surveillance, HPV, health informatics, occupational health, and systematic reviews/meta-analysis. I have been involved in research on HPV awareness among allied health professionals, arboviral and dengue surveillance, and blood group phenotyping, with research presented at CARPHA and published through the West Indian Medical Journal. I’m looking to expand my research experience through collaborations with researchers locally and internationally. I’m open to contributing to ongoing projects in areas where my laboratory and public health background can be useful, including literature reviews, data collection and analysis, research methodology, scientific writing, and manuscript preparation. Innovations in dengue surveillance: serotype distribution, transmission dynamics, and implications for outbreak preparedness in Guyana, South America

This study found that multiple dengue serotypes circulated in Guyana from June 2024 to September 2025. DENV-2 was the most common, followed by DENV-3, mainly in coastal regions. Rare DENV-4 and mixed infections were found only in Region 4 (Georgetown), a likely transmission hotspot. The results highlight the need for stronger surveillance, mosquito control, and better outbreak preparedness.

Innovations in arboviral diagnostics: implementation and impact of multiplex panel testing in Guyana, South America

This study evaluated multiplex arboviral panel testing in Guyana from June 2024 to September 2025 using 7,458 febrile illness samples. Dengue was the most common infection (17.3%), while four Oropouche cases and one yellow fever case were detected. No Zika, chikungunya, or co-infections were found. The results show that multiplex testing improved surveillance by identifying multiple viruses from a single sample and supporting faster public health response.

HPV awareness in allied health professionals: evaluating the level o

This study assessed HPV knowledge, perceptions, and advocacy readiness among allied health professionals in Guyana. Among 349 participants, overall HPV knowledge was moderate, with strong awareness of vaccine effectiveness and that HPV affects both sexes. However, knowledge gaps existed in transmission routes and correct vaccination age. Although many professionals encountered people unaware of HPV, only one-third consistently provided education. Barriers included limited time, resources, and cultural stigma. The study concludes that targeted training is needed to improve knowledge, confidence, and HPV prevention advocacy.

Distribution and frequency of principal Rh blood group antigens (D, C, c, E, and e), Kell antigen, and DAT positivity among blood donors at the National Blood Transfusion Services in Guyana

This study analyzed the distribution and frequency of key Rh blood group antigens (D, C, c, E, e), the Kell antigen, and Direct Antiglobulin Test (DAT) positivity among voluntary blood donors in Guyana. The findings provide critical insights for improving transfusion safety, understanding population antigenic profiles, and guiding future blood banking strategies. The poster was presented at the 67th Annual CARPHA Health Research Conference in The Bahamas and published in the West Indian Medical Journal Supplement (Vol 70, Suppl. 2).
