I am a psychologist and PhD candidate in Psychology at the University of Porto. My research interests centre on the relationship between social structure, space and lived experience, with a particular focus on housing, person-place relations, embodiment and psychosocial processes.
I am interested in how social positions and unequal material and symbolic conditions become lived and embodied through everyday relationships with homes, neighbourhoods and institutions. Particular attention is given to territorial stigma, social classification, recognition and belonging, and to how these processes may be incorporated, negotiated or resisted across individual and biographical trajectories.
My doctoral research examines these processes among people with migration experiences, using migration as a context in which broader relations between social position, housing, place and institutional structures become particularly visible. Rather than assuming uniform psychological effects, I am interested in how people interpret, embody and give meaning to their circumstances, and how these experiences relate to identity, security, agency and psychosocial wellbeing.
My methodological interests include qualitative and quantitative research, particularly ethnographically informed approaches, biographical interviewing and mixed-methods research.
