Need help about new species
I submited MS about new species. I need collabs to fix this comments:
Dear Authors,
We are pleased to receive your manuscript entitled “Identification of a new species of Loureedia (Araneae, Eresidae) in Algeria” submitted to our journal. The study has the potential to contribute to the literature through the description of a new species.
As the manuscript includes a new species description, several technical issues related to nomenclature need to be clarified in accordance with the journal’s requirements. The requests listed below do not constitute a scientific evaluation of the study but are kindly requested to ensure a smooth and reliable editorial process.
Clarification of the holotype and type material
The holotype must be clearly defined as a physical specimen. In this context, please explicitly state the depository (collection) name and provide a permanent catalog or voucher number for the holotype.
ZooBank registration
As the study includes the description of a new species, ZooBank registration is required. Please include the corresponding ZooBank LSID in the manuscript.
Consistency in species name usage and year
The new species name should be used consistently and in a single standardized format (sp. nov.) throughout the manuscript. In addition, the species name–author–year information should be harmonized across all sections of the paper.
Accessibility of molecular data
Please deposit the COI sequences used in the study in a public database such as GenBank or BOLD and include the corresponding accession numbers in the manuscript.
Detailed reporting of genetic and phylogenetic analyses
To allow a sound evaluation of the phylogenetic analyses, we kindly request a more detailed description of the molecular methods. This should include the targeted gene region (COI), primer information, PCR conditions, sequence length, alignment method, software used, and the main parameters of the phylogenetic analyses.
Manuscript format
Considering the current data scope (limited number of specimens, only male individuals, and molecular analysis based on a single gene region), we believe that evaluation of the manuscript as a Short Communication rather than a Research Article would be more appropriate in line with the journal’s publication policy.
Revision period
You are kindly requested to complete the revision process within 15 days. If additional time is required, please do not hesitate to contact us.
