Prognostication in Cardiac Arrest Patients Early to Enhance Tailored Therapies

Outcomes following cardiac arrest remain universally poor, and early identification of patients at risk of poor recovery is essential to guide personalised post-resuscitation care. Current prognostic tools are often delayed or lack sufficient sensitivity in the early post-resuscitation period, limiting their value for timely therapeutic decision-making. This project aims to systematically review and evaluate early physiological and biochemical markers reported in the literature that may reliably predict outcomes shortly after return of spontaneous circulation. The study will identify investigated prognostic markers, compare their predictive performance, and assess their potential utility for early risk stratification. The ultimate goal is to inform timely, individualised treatment strategies that improve outcomes and optimise resource utilisation in post-cardiac arrest care. We welcome collaboration with researchers in critical care, biomarker discovery, and translational physiology to enhance the clinical applicability and future validation of these findings.
