AI-Driven Trip Planning and the Transformation of Pre-Travel Decision Processes: A Consumer Behavior Perspective
Looking for expressions of interest for a collaborative research project examining how AI is transforming the pre-travel decision-making process in tourism and hospitality.
The study aims to develop an end-to-end analytical framework capturing how AI-driven tools, such as intelligent trip planners, algorithmic recommendation systems, and generative AI platforms, reshape consumer behavior across key pre-travel stages, including inspiration, information search, evaluation of alternatives, and final decision-making.
This project will investigate the behavioral and cognitive implications of AI integration in travel planning, with specific emphasis on:
Perceived usefulness and ease of use of AI-driven platforms
Consumer reliance on AI versus exploratory decision-making behavior
Shifts in information processing, choice confidence, and decision efficiency
The evolving role of personalization in shaping travel intentions
