This study investigated the evolution of publications on Paleobotany, identifying the main institutions, journals and related keywords. This is a bibliometric study with data collected in the Scopus database. The analysis showed that the number of publications in the area grew gradually, with a significant increase from 2005 onwards, especially in Brazil. Among the most relevant journals, the Journal of South American Earth Sciences and the Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology stand out, reflecting the importance of paleobotanical studies in the South American and global context. Emerging keywords, such as "Fossil Record", "Paleoecology" and "Phylogeny", indicate a growing focus on ecological and evolutionary issues, while terms such as "Charcoal" and "Species Diversity" signal new areas of interest. Brazilian institutions, such as the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), lead the scientific production in the area. It is concluded that Paleobotany in Brazil is an expanding area, with potential for global contributions, especially in interdisciplinary areas that combine Paleontology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences. It is recommended that new studies be carried out to map the evolution and impact of the area, in addition to exploring the relationship between scientific production and the national research structure, considering international collaboration as a key factor.
