The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic is currently considered as a critical global health crisis that endangers the health and safety of individuals. This new disease not only assesses organization's resilience but also their ability to follow an altered strategy that enables them to adapt to these trigger events. This situation creates an environment of uncertainty for their workforce and generates instant threats to their performance and sustainability. Therefore, organizations' leaders are taking strategic actions to face effectively these critical circumstances by renewing their human resource strategies. This paper conducted a thorough literature review to elaborate a critical analysis of insights, challenges, and implications for human resource management (HRM) in the era of COVID-19. The results of this research paper reveled that resilient organizations can better support their workforce to cope with this newly altered work environment. Decision makers must adopt the organizational resilience approach in order to achieve outstanding performance in a dynamic environment.
The virtual workplace (VW) has indicated a worldwide paradigm shift for corporations and policymakers alike, who have needed to take urgent action and formulate rationalized policies for a safe transition for the planet and people’s lives. The literature divulges that VW practices and their effects on social sustainable development policy are an emergent field of study, and a limited amount of research has been conducted in the context of developing countries in general and the country of the Arab Republic of Egypt in particular. Therefore, this research surveyed the leading four public sector banks in Egypt. A questionnaire with closed-ended questions was developed and circulated to a random sample of administrators at the top, middle and executive levels of the designated banks. The research empirically tested the independent variables of VW practices across three different levels, focusing on individual factors, intra-/inter-corporation factors, and the external context. The dependent variable was surveyed by examining the effectiveness of social sustainable development policies. Four intermediate variables were investigated, including age, gender, level of education, and position. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics in Microsoft Excel to categorize the units of analysis using a Likert scale. Based on the results, concrete practices related to the VW and empirical policies for social sustainable development are proposed. Moreover, the research suggests key actions of improvement to be taken into consideration regarding VW practices, especially in the era of COVID-19, at the individual, organizational, and external levels.
The recognition of corporate crime as a form of criminal participation raises critical issues regarding the scope and classification of corporate criminal responsibility in Indonesia. Despite its significance, there is currently no rigid legal framework providing clear guidelines on this matter. This study aims to establish an ideal framework for corporate criminal liability by applying a taxonomic method to classify types of criminal participation. Employing a normative legal research design with a legislation-based approach, the study analyzes both primary and secondary legal materials through deductive reasoning. The findings highlight two main points. First, a legal deconstruction is necessary to comprehend corporate crime as an evolving form of criminal participation, taking into account traditional attribution methods, existing legal practices, and reforms proposed in the draft Indonesian Criminal Code. Second, two predominant models for understanding corporate liability emerge: one that considers corporate actors’ criminal participation as part of their organizational duties, and another that focuses on individual actors’ involvement within the corporate structure. The study concludes that a normative reconstruction and clear classification of corporate crimes are essential to provide legal certainty and uphold justice. This framework aims to provide clearer guidelines for attributing criminal liability in corporate contexts in Indonesia.
The aim of the paper is to study the impact of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices on organizational performance. This study has selected a descriptive research design. The data was collected by using a structured questionnaire, Likert Scale (rating scale of 5 points). The population includes all employees across (top-level management, middle-level management, the lower-level management) working in the private drilling company in Bahrain. A sample random sampling method was used to select the respondents of the survey. Word, Excel, and SPSS were used to form the survey and analyze the collected data. The results of the study show that Green HRM Practices have a positive relationship with organizational performance. Also, the study shows that Employee awareness moderate the relationship between Green HRM practices and Organizational Performance. To date, this the first work related to Green HRM in Bahrain and GCC with empirical evidence from a private drilling company in the oil sector in Bahrain.
Nowadays, the concept of virtual organisation (VO) denotes a paradigm shift for policymakers and managers targeting to increase the effectiveness of economic and technological sustainable development. Although the growing number of studies devoted to the topic of VO in developed countries, few studies have been directed to study developing countries, especially the MENA region. This study was inspired by the theoretical research framework proposed by Fathy El Dessouky (2011) to examine the relationship between virtual organisations and the effectiveness of economic and technological sustainable development policies in the commercial public banking sector in Egypt. The research examined four distinguished Egyptian commercial public sector banks which have taken serious steps towards e-banking system. A questionnaire with pre-prepared closed-ended questions was distributed to a random sample of 600 employees at the top, middle and executive levels of management but only 500 employees responded to the questionnaire. The results presented and demonstrated the need for specific areas of improvement regarding the VO, in particular, to satisfy the requirements of economic and technological sustainable development policies in developing countries.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a significant field of studies to stress the importance of the new role of organizations towards the society for sustainable development. Nowadays, an enormous number of authors have been participating in this field to highlight the responsibility of organizations towards the community, society and the natural environment where they are operating. Despite the growing number of researches related to CSR in the developed countries little empirical studies have been devoted to examine CSR concept and practice in the African countries, the MENA region (Middle-East and North Africa), as well as in the Golf countries. This chapter seeks to study CSR concept and practice in the emerging market economies (EMEs). It will mainly focus on the implementations of CSR by the public banking sector. We will investigate the role of the public banking sector existing in an Arab country in comparison to an Asian country to explain and analyze the similarities and differences of CSR activities in both experiences. In this comparative study we will primarily examine Banque Misr, as one of the oldest and largest public bank in Egypt and the Malayan Banking Berhad (trading as Maybank) as the largest public bank in Malaysia. After a meticulous review of literature, we propose a systemic framework to study CSR practices and policy implementations. We illustrated the CSR as a constant process where all variables are interrelated and are affecting each other in a mutual approach. In this systemic framework we advocated to study all significant variables related to CSR practice as: the history/philosophy development, core-values, CSR adopted definition, motives, key players, approaches, stakeholders focus, sectors of intervention and mechanisms of policy implementations. The chapter concludes that common CSR policies exist between the Malaysian and the Egyptian experience. Nevertheless the Malaysian model has formulated an elaborated and further sophisticated CSR public banking program. Meanwhile, the Egyptian model needs to adopt more global oriented CSR public banking policies, in particular to assure the sustainable development requirements.
To fill the current literature gap, this paper strives to empirically determine the networking process between the government of Bahrain and the key players in the formulation and implementation of sustainable energy policy. The literature review divulges that policy network approach represents a useful tool for the analysis of public policy, since this approach permits a thorough explanation of the interaction between the network’s members. A questionnaire was distributed to key decision-makers involved in the elaboration of sustainable energy policy in Bahrain. The results of this paper revealed that the government of Bahrain has adopted successful policies of sustainable energy in reaching the intended results. Nevertheless, the current structure of networking might be described as a “Clientelist Network”. This paper proposed a pragmatic model for sustainable energy policy to reinforce the networking process between the government and the key players into a rational approach of “Pluralistic networks”. In this network, formal associations have to be established to embrace the industry, energy and environmental sectors. Accordingly, this type of networking will ensure direct and strong frequent ties. Also, this pluralistic network will provide further comparative advantages in terms of the power of control over resources and the flow of information among all key actors.
The research paper is mainly concerned with characterizing green HRM practices and determining the nature and type of relationship between green HRM practices and how to improve OP in the oil sector in Bahrain. A descriptive researchdesign and survey were used in this research. It Should be noted that a structured questionnaire was designed as well as distributed to a random sample for the purpose of data collection to achieve the study's objective. The targeted population inthis study is mainly comprised of employees from all levels of management. The sample size included employees across all levels (high, middle, and executive management) working in Bahrain's private drilling company. The unit of analysis included a random sample that was estimated to be (175) employees, male and female, who had an equal chance of being chosen and will be treated anonymously. Data will be primarily collected using structured questionnaires. The online questionnaire is designed primarily depending on the Likert Scale (rating scale of 5 points). The results of the research showed that Green HRM Practices (GRS, GTD, GPA, GCR, and GEE) have a positive relationship with OP. This research addressed a proposed model for future empirical study in terms of GHRM practices.

A growing number of research divulges that eco-feminist perspectives are playing a significant moderator role influencing the relationship between virtual organizations and environmentally sustainable development policies. However, there is a lack of research on this topic, especially in developing countries. To fill this gap, this study examines how eco-feminist perspectives impact the practices of virtual organizations in the Egyptian public banking sector. A rational framework was introduced to address the research questions and provide a structure for analyzing the topic under investigation. The chapter concluded that there is a noteworthy moderator role of the eco-feminist perspectives shaping the relationship between remote workplace practices and environmentally sustainable development policies. The study recommended explicit practices and policies empowering women to be a significant key player with greater impact in this endeavor especially in the post-pandemic era of COVID-19.
This study's main purpose is to explore the overall relationship between HR internal service quality and employee job satisfaction in Bahrain's banking sector. The non-random sampling technique "snowball" was utilized to collect the data from different banks operating in the kingdom of Bahrain. A total of 241 responses to the questionnaire were collected. The collected data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical analysis techniques. The findings reveal all the human resource department's internal service quality dimensions have a direct and positive relationship with employee job satisfaction in the banking sector. This study's findings provide insights for organizations, mainly for the banking sector, aiming to be competitive and responsive to the growing challenges around the world. Conclusions highlighted that the adoption of specific efforts and mechanisms to encourage fostering the introduction and implementation of the internal service quality concept within the banks are likely to result in the attainment of excellent performance and outcomes.
